YEAR OF SERVICE 2021

LaBelle Haven has always been committed to serving others through practical ways.

To highlight some of the projects we have declared 2021 as the "Year of Service"

Current Projects

These are the current Year of Service Projects we are actively participating with:

Operation Christmas Child

LaBelle Haven is a regional drop-off site for North Mississippi. Last year we collected about 700 shoeboxes. We would like to gather items for these shoeboxes throughout the year. As you are out shopping, you can check clearance aisles and discount bins for items to fill shoeboxes. From toys and school supplies to hygiene items, there are so many things that are great for shoeboxes. We will have a large box wrapped with Christmas paper in the office to receive these items. Most importantly, we need you to pray. Pray for the children who receive these items, as well as the volunteers who collect, sort and help distribute these boxes.

Below is a PDF of Shoebox Gift Suggestions to help guide you on what to purchase.

Memphis Union Mission 2021

LaBelle Haven has been serving the Memphis Union Mission for many years now in various ways.  We provide a meal for them every 3rd Sunday of the month, chapel services, and donations.  This month our focus will be on collecting new packages of Knee-High Socks for the men.  This is a practical way of showing the love of Jesus while providing a physical need.  We have bins set up through out the atrium to place your socks in or you can drop them off at the church office.

Disaster Relief Training

June 2021

One of the many goals  we have for 2021 is the desire to help our community during a Natural Disaster.  One of the best ways we know how to help is to feed people.  We are currently raising money to retro-fit a trailer that can be used to store food and equipment in order to provide a large amount of meals.  LaBelle will receive training and certification from the Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief Team.  This will allows us to go into areas that have been impacted by a Natural Disaster.  We will have dates and more information coming soon.

Food for Backpacks

July 2021

We have a great opportunity to provide food for needy students in our area. More info coming soon.

Supplies for Teachers

August 2021

In August we are collecting school supplies to help our teachers meet the needs of their classroom. Most teachers have to pay out of their own pockets for supplies.  This is a simple project that makes a huge impact. Our teachers will also fill out a “Wish List” for their classrooms and we will ask our LaBelle family to adopt one of these teachers.  This would be a great project for a Sunday School Class, a family, or maybe even your place of work to help show them that we truly do LOVE GOD…LOVE PEOPLE.

Here a few items that teachers need the most.

Clorox Wipes, Hand Sanitizer, Kleenex, #2 Pencils, Cap Erasers, 1 Subject Notebooks, Composition Book, Notebook Paper, Expo Markers, and any STEM Toys.  You can bring in your school supplies and place them in the BIG BLUE BUCKETS or drop them off by the office.

OCC

September 2021

The Deadline for Operation Christmas Child boxes is getting close. Now is the time to focus on collecting items for the boxes.  You can either pack your own boxes or purchase items to donate to the church and our LaBelle Kids will pack the boxes. You can find a list of appropriate items on our website. School supplies on clearance should be easy to find this month. Other items needed are toys, clothes, stuffed animals. Items can be brought to the church and placed in the Christmas wrapped box.

TRUNK OR TREAT

October 2021

In October we have a church wide Trunk-or-Treat night for our LaBelle Kids. In order for this to be a successful event, we need lots of candy. The blue buckets will be out in the atrium to collect individually wrapped candy. We will need volunteers to help with games and other tasks. We also need people who are willing to open up their trunks, decorated or not, and hand out candy to children. You can contact Renea in the church office if you are willing to help.

Thanksgiving Meal Boxes

November 2021

More info coming soon.

Past Projects

These are the past Year of Service Projects we partook in:

Olive Branch Food Pantry

January 2021

Each January we collect cans of soup leading up to Super Bowl Sunday for the Olive Branch Food Pantry.  Most food pantries are hit hard around the holidays and need tot restock desperately.  You can bring in cans of soup and place them on the table by the office entrance.  If you prefer we have placed a cart underneath the North awning for a no contact solutions Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.  For more information on how you can help serve please call the church office 662-893-2273

Easter Eggs for Easter Egg Hunt

March 2021

Our LaBelle Kids Easter Egg Hunt is one of our community outreach events. We invite people from the community to bring their children for a time of fun, games and hunting Easter eggs. While they are here, we have the opportunity to invite them back for Easter morning service. In order for this event to be a success, we need MANY plastic eggs and lots of candy to fill these eggs. In addition to that, we will need volunteers for this event to help with games. Pray about how God can use you to help minister to the community.

Redemption City Church

April 2021

In 2020, LaBelle Haven voted to support a new church launch in Fort Worth, Texas. Matt Kendrick is the lead pastor. LaBelle Haven supports Redemption City Church (RCC) with about $1,000 a month. We have made a three-year commitment to RCC.

Since August, the leadership of RCC has been having gatherings to grow their core and promote the church. On Easter, April 4, the church will officially launch.

We are asking 8 – 10 of our people to travel to Fort Worth for the weekend to support the launch. LaBelle Haven will cover the hotel and travel expense.

Our people that help RCC will be in Fort Worth Friday, April 2 – Monday, April 5.

They will be involved in door to door invitations, evangelism in high-foot traffic areas, help set up for and attend the worship services.

Operation Christmas Child

May 2021
